Beads

Beads can be used for early childhood threading activities. They are also materials used to make jewellery, clothing and accessories. Children can learn how beading is a part of different cultures. They also make fun loose parts!

The educational benefits of beads include fine motor development.

Learning experiences

Make beads

Children can make beads from clay or paper.

Use loose parts for maths play

Sort beads and buttons by size, colour and shape. Practice counting and group them in sets of two, five and ten. Arrange them in patterns and use them as counters for homemade board games.

The Interest Forest

The Interest Forest was created by a small team of Australian early childhood teachers. We believe in less paperwork and more play.

We have collected hundreds of children's interests, linked to the EYLF, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your program. We hope you enjoy exploring our Forest of interest topics.
